I almost made my first sale on a print of a Lilo and Stitch watercolor painting that I have on Zazzle, but it was cancelled

It actually looks like they took down the painting entirely for copyright reasons. That's unfortunate. I thought that if it was my own work then it's not copyrighted, right?

I think Disney are pretty strict on their copyrights. Don't they even have the shape of Mickey's ears protected?

You would only own the copyright if you created the characters.

Zazzle is very strict when it comes to copyright.

I think I made the same mistake on a couple of things I painted from photographs which must have been copyrighted. Didn't think it would matter as they were considerably, and intentionally different in form and colour etc. Ah well, no wrong intent meant. I wasn't intending submitting them to the National Gallery or even selling them. We live and learn. :crying:
