Hi! Comparing to London and Berlin in Europe, what is the capital of contemporary Latin art? A venue where the most of significant interactions and events are happening.

I am interested in a business aspect: in the number of prominent or developing artists, art collectors, galleries.

Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Bogota, Mexico City, Montevideo?

All opinions are highly appreciated!😀

Just as there is no European Art Capital, there is no Latin Art Capital.

The European cities mentioned do have active art communities, but so do Venice, Nice, Oslo, etc. To pin the title of most famous European art city, Paris is probably preeminent. In the end, there is just no way to describe any single city or locale as the capital of anything art.

List of cities mentioned in op should also include Lima, Cordoba, Santiago, Guadalajara, and others.

Latin America consists, generally, of Mexico, Central America, South America, and some islands, such as Cuba in the Caribbean Sea. Because so many artists from these places have emigrated to the US and Canada, one cannot leave out cities like Miami, Toronto, San Francisco Bay area (SF, Oakland, Sausalito and others), Taos, or Victoria all of which have active Latin art communities.

If seriously looking for one or two cities that might dominate the art market, or anything else artsy, in Central America, maybe define then refine the search parameters. Even something as vague as "significant interactions and events " can be successfully used with more definitive terms that specifies "interactions" and "events".

Good luck.
