I am an australian looking at possibly going into some kind of design career,
but I don't know what area of design i want to get involved with
and have no clue how to start exploring.

Can i please have some advice so that i have some sort of direction....

what kind of design do you want to do? "designing" has way too many variants so you have to be more specific. you can design a website f.e. but you can also design how something tastes.s o without further information id say decide what you want to do and google all the information you can get and explore what´s interesting to you or where youre most comfortable with.
