Hi everyone, it's my first time posting on here so, nice to meet you all, and bear with me!
Here are some photographs of a very early sculptural work in progress. Really all I have here at the moment is a basic idea and model I knocked up this afternoon and a few photographs. But in one way or another I have been exploring the shape and the idea behind the sculpture for quite a few years.
I guess feedback wise i'm really interested what you people think of the form, it's placement in water, the reflections, anything aesthetic really… and if you're interested in my thought process behind the concept, feedback on that would also be welcome:
- the idea is the meeting of opposites. A Möbius strip, if you're not already aware, is a one-sided shape made from a strip of anything (in this case wood) with a half-twist then the ends joined together. So instead of thinking in terms of this OR that, light OR dark, good OR bad, it's more a case of thinking on a whole different level where the two opposites are present but maybe we don't identify so strongly with them?? I am interested also in non-binary gender identity and androgyny and wonder how this ties in with the concept.
But enough of my waffle for now, any thoughts at all would be really appreciated, both negative and positive! Thnx, Rob.
