I am an artist who is looking for VOLUNTEERS ONLY for my upcoming solo exhibition. My artwork tends to pertain to breaking barriers and bringing awareness to a certain group of individuals. Each of the portraits that I paint is an abstracted image of the person that is created from an actual photograph and then displayed alongside their personal story which is conducted through an interview.

The series that I am currently working on is based on the portraits and stories of individuals that are LGBT.

I am working with the MacRostie Art Center in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to provide the paintings and stories of men and women who identify as being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. Please feel free to contact them if needed. The show will be presented to the public in April 2017 with each painted portrait displayed alongside the individual's personal story.

To receive a diverse group of volunteers I have posted advertisements online and through social media. In some cases I also work through personal referral. If you are an individual who is part of the LGBT community and would like to volunteer to be a subject for this painted series please answer the following questions. These questions can be answered in as much detail as you would like. Some volunteers are very detailed and direct, while others are a little more private. Either way is acceptable.

NOTE: This is a volunteer opportunity and no compensation will be given.

****Please email responses to [email protected]****

Thank you!

What is your full name? Where are you from?

What is your occupation?

What is a "typical" day for you?

When did you first become familiar with the term lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender?

Can you talk me through your process of when you first identified yourself as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender?

What have been some of the most exciting changes you have seen during your lifetime in regards to support for LGBT community?

What advice would you like to leave for the younger generation who identify themselves as being gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender?

****Lastly, I will need a close up image of yourself. This will need to be taken in good lighting and needs to be in focused. It does not need to be posed. I personally like candid photos more since they don't give off a "selfie" feel in the finalized painting.****
