Hi all - I'm a landscape painter, working in a semi-abstract way. I used acrylic for several years and was never entirely happy with it but I loved the way I could draw into the paint with water based pens, watercolour pencils etc. I've now switched entirely to oil paint and I much prefer the look and feel of it to acrylic paint. However I really miss that ability to draw into the paint with a pen or other implement. I've tried using dilute paint on a rigger but the line just isn't 'definite' enough for me. I've also tried oil pastels but again the line is too vague for the crisp lines I'd like to achieve. Does anyone have any recommendations for a pen or similar that would work with oil paint and also be of archival quality (I sell my work so it must be archival). Below is a recent painting (oil and cold wax medium on Arches Huile paper) and here I would love to be able to draw into it to add some more detailed dark branches into the 'tree' on the upper right for example. I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Did you try using a # 1. Or 2////liner brush ? With. thinning the paint with a walnut oil or. Mineral spirits ? You should be able to make any definite. Hard or soft line without having to draw into underpainting.
