I found this forum via horseforum.com where I frequently post my artwork. Thank you Jen for starting artistforum.com. I hope to be a regular contributer in here as well.
Anyway, my name is Liz. I have been drawing literally since I could hold a crayon in my hand. I have no training at all minus a little advice from friends who are also artists. I rely mostly on experimenting with different mediums and paper and trial and error. My main focus is equine (horse) art. My username comes from "equus", meaning horse and "sketch", meaning...well, sketch...lol. I have expanded my art into other animals recently including dogs, cats and even a guinea pig. I started selling my artwork several years ago, but nothing very formal. I am a physical therapist by day, artist by night. My other passion is horseback riding. I feel so blessed that I have been able to combine my passion for art and horses and actually make a little money to support my very expensive hobby.
I work primarily with graphite pencil, but have worked with charcoal, colored pencil, soft pastel, pen and ink and acrylic paint. I recently bought a set of water color paints and oil pastels that I hope to try out in the near future. Whenever I go to the art supply store, I am like a kid in a candy shop. I never walk out with only what I intended to buy.
I am on my lunch break right now, but when I get home I will try to remember to post some samples of my art. I look forward to meeting fellow artists, sharing my own experiences and learning from others' experiences.
