hey jay I'm not selling either in fact, when people offer me cash I have to turn them down because I know the instant I accept a payment into the equation I will fail, it creates a block for me, my only block it's like the motive for me painting switches from pleasure to financial, so I get NO enjoyment out of it and I'm not able to even paint!
anyone else get this block?

Would any of you guys be interested in displaying some art you'd like to sell on my website? It doesn't cost anything and I don't take a commission so it's all free. I'm always looking for places to try sell my work and figured i'd try and make a site specifically for listing artwork to sell. It's only new so there isn't much of an audience yet but i'm trying to make it grow

My hobby has evolved into selling my work. At first I wasn't interested in selling because I knew I wasn't very good. I'm still not very good but better than I was a year ago and the way I figure is if someone likes one of my paintings enough to buy it then why not sell it. I don't charge much. I still consider it only a hobby and I do it for the fun of it, not the money.

I have a peg board wall at a nearby flea market (indoors). Renting the space only costs me $35 a month. I started it last October and I have always sold enough each month to cover the rent plus a little more for some supplies. It's nothing much to brag about but I never thought I could do anything like that and it makes me tremendously happy to be doing it.

Terry your work looks pretty good to me? you have some really nice work there :)

I like the idea of selling work at a flea market, but there isn't really anything like that anywhere close to where i'm from. So i Came up with the idea that i'd try and make a website that's pretty much an online market place for artists to sell their work. So far it's only new so there isn't many people on there...actually i think i may be the only one on there haha...

Anyway i just wanted a place to sell my art so i made (link removed) . You guys are welcome to post some of your art there that you'd like to sell. It doesn't cost anything and i don't take a commission so it's all free. Up to you guys anyway :) just trying to be creative and helpful.

Meli, I totally get that. It's like the instant someone offers payment for your work it becomes just that, 'work' and it kind of takes the enjoyment out of it. I don't really paint or draw with the intention of selling everything i produce, so i can still be creative and not feel like i'm 'Working', however i do sell some stuff later on. I do agree with what you're saying though.

Your site will be competing with some big time art selling sites like Etsy and Ebay. These sites are familiar and trusted by the buyers. I've sold on both Etsy and Ebay but only 1 on Etsy and 2 on Ebay and personally I think online selling is a hassle because of the shipping and delay in getting the money.

@Jay2560 I love your idea of an online marketplace. I know Etsy is very popular, but I know all the fees they charge aren't. I'm leery of selling my art, mostly because I don't think it's that good. It's okay, but I don't think it's good enough for people to give me money for.

Now I have been kicking around doing a website where people can download pieces to color for a small fee, but that would be months away.

I haven't even come close to creating enough art to get past my family. My wife wants my latest to hang on the wall and my daughter wants something large for her wall. I like painting on the larger surfaces. Once I get a few that the family don't want, I may try to sell some.

I think to date I've painted well over 200 paintings, and that's within 21 months. I started early May 2014. Believe me it doesn't take long before the family is used up. One thing that bothers me is so many relatives are displaying my early works and I can do so much better now. I have probably thrown away at least 50 paintings that I wasn't happy with. Some I sell at the flea market for ridiculous prices like $3.00. People will buy anything if they think they are getting a great bargain. But most of my paintings run from $10 to $50 depending on the quality and size. I hope some day to sell a painting for over $100 and feel the painting was actually worth it, but if it doesn't happen I'm OK with that. It's all just a game to me.

I think you need a smart phone to use instagram and I don't use one.

Leigh Ann I only saw a couple of your artwork but it looks really good and seems well suited for one of those adult coloring books. They are really popular now and some artists have done quite well with it. You can make an ebook with your art and try selling it as a download.

kind some sneaky way to advertise your site haha - please dont take offense but lets do an honest talk here :)
you didnt create a website. you ordered webspace, booked an url and put up a wordpress installation with a paid theme
designed to make money with people creating ads on that theme.

i mean alright fair enough but i dont think you will come far with it since youd have to like built campaigns and such
to get somewhat of a user base and earn their trust etc etc. stuff thats already established on many big sites like ebay..
even amazon...

reach for the stars and chase your dreams but dont fall for illusions :)

best of luck m8
