Hey y'all! I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to @Glenda!

She is my friend, colleague, and direct supervisor.

She has a strong interest in art and will be helping us with the site.

I have a feeling you are going to love her as much as I do, so please help make her feel welcome here.

Hello Everyone!

Glenda here and I must say I am truly excited to get to know all of you, a huge passion of mine is art, it always has been since I was a little girl. I believe anything that moves you can be translated as art, and so I bought a new sketch book and I am ready to see what inspires me to draw again.

Fingers crossed the weather stays warm :)

Why is the traffic for this forum extremely low? There should be more serious artists discussing art here, in a candid manner. This forum needs life and should be about art, artists, what inspires them and pushes them to create. This should be a venue for known artists and unknown artists to come together on a common ground as artists and discuss theories, ideas, and so forth. People should be more active in actually writing about art, making art and elaborating on these projects.

Most artists today have "how to" theories, I think we should begin to discus "why" theories in order to explore deeper connections between the art and the artists. We should encourage artists to share their stories of how they became artists, when they learned that they were artists.

Sure, some pencil sketches here and there are alright, and some one-shot pieces can be somewhat appealing but it is like art critic David Hickey mentioned, that most people today do not want to aspire for greatness, they settle for a paycheck and mediocrity. No one is pioneering, leading anything. The art scene is practically stale and I think this site can become a catalyst for a larger global network to help bring fresh ideas, different ideas that challenge pre-established and institutionalized concepts of art and art education.

I personally have several essays i am writing regarding art, specifically in my field which is Islamic art. I have been told by other artists that they have never heard of someone with a similar approach to art. I came here because I was looking for a venue that was focused solely on art. And I think this site is perfect for such an endeavor.

There are many articles, essays, books and so forth regarding art out there, that can be discussed. Art history and all that.

I personally think that being an artist is more than having a few sketches and exclaiming "I am an artist" or merely being a work horse for some graphics company, or being a student in an institution.

Artists, should discuss evolution, movement, ideas, delve deeper into the meaning and purpose of making their art, they should have a passion for what they do. No just post some copy-cat sketch of anything with a subtitle "LOL I'm so random", or the like.

People say I am very elitist, purist and traditional and I like to agree with these people.

I like to dissect and analyze ideas to their core details. I like to break them down, and I like when people do that with my work and writing in order to push each other to think even deeper than what we thought we have reached.
