While in Milwaukee today, I found out the art museum is having a special exhibit of pastels, charcoals, drawings and watercolors of theimpressionists. I changed flights, and remained. Took my constant companion (a little sketch book) and was permitted to sketch while there. The exhibit was of lesser known works of the major impressionists. Here are a few of my sketches, listed by the artists who inspired me.
Van Gogh

Monet

Zandomenghi

De Toulouse-Lautrec

Degas

Renoir

Gaugan

Pissaro

It was quite a treat to see the 200 or so works, and unbelievably good to sketch these live.

And the museum official who said it was okay to sketch.

Inspired by these artists who drew everything they saw, I did these

I think they inspired me.

The terminal and Monet are my favorites! What a neat trip and love your idea to sketch them! How long where you there? I can tell you were inspired. Very very nice Don!

Thank you Chanda and Michael!
I managed a few hours for the museum and some local galleries. I must say, previously, Monet and Van Gogh were my favorite impressionists, but now, having seen their works in person, I am a definite Pissarro fan also.
