The picture is a good amateur attempt. Caveats exist: White water on the far side of the bridge is incorrectly represented. Some highlights are missing completely while some shadows are also missing. There is a comparative shadow group behind the two figures waiting for their coach. These are dark, strong shadows. I'm searching for others similar and am hard pressed to find them. The female's right arm appears to have the sleeve removed from elbow to shoulder-- not representative of the time period. The child is holding her hand, but he has one dark sleeve and ??one light almost white sleeve? Bad detail. Mountain atmosphere/clouds are not shabby-- that's a plus, but there are too many odd elements around to make this anything but amateurish. No signature? What's the back look like. I'll assume it's an oil painting, could be on board. Doesn't appear to be a mass produced scam-scale picture, but you must remain cautious. Until more info. is provided, I might would give you, maybe $50.00 for it as ambiguous as the thing is.
Good Luck

Oh shoot! Dummy me didn't look back at the upper image. W&N received their first royal warrant for the board your painting is on about 1842. This does not mean you painting is that old. It's still done by an amateur. I think you'd have to agree that the bright yellow under the coach/carriage is way to bright...yuck!

Don't you think that's kind of harsh? Critique is one thing and denying any respect to the artist is another. Just because the artist is not here deos not mean we can't use kinder words. We are all here learning art-forever, so acting like you have already learned everything and are a complete master by putting other work down is not kind. The art itself you are trash talking is not even so bad! You were just to guess the value, but then went too far in parts of your posts.
