Okay, so whenever I take any pictures of my work, it seems to distort the actual piece and make it look not at all how it does in person. I've tried doing it at a few different angles, but I can't seem to get it to look good. Help please, because I'm scared to post any of the pictures that I've taken of my work because they all seem distorted and they don't look right. Anyone have some suggestions to help me?

Well, there are several issues at hand before answering your question directly...
-Is your art under glass?
-What type of camera are you using?
- Do you have a tripod?

If your art is under glass you will have to worry about two things here, the first is the glare from any light source. The second issue is reflection in the glass.

I will assume that it is not under glass, the better way of achieving taking shots of your art would be the use of a tripod and either a cable release or a delayed shutter. Your work should be perpendicular to your camera with no tilting of the work or camera. Lighting I would use tungsten light as high as wattage as you can find but I would not go over 500 watts.

If you are taking photos with a smart phone, which I do for quick posts to facebook...I do this without a without the tripod, I go straight on with no angles...

And one other thing I do is take my photos into photoshop and adjust the levels and sometimes color.

Regardless of your angles go ahead and post your work, we'll work out the other stuff later...and welcome to the forums
