Hi Guys newbie here looking for some help with a painting I got from a auction
which is just signed F.S. 1905

I've done a lot of google searches but could only come up with the name Frederick Ferdinand
Schafer. It looks like it could either be a water colour pencil or even a print I can't tell, so if any of
you guys out there can direct me in the right direction in finding out how to say for sure
if its a print or not would be a great start even better would be to know who painted this.
I've uploaded some picture and hope some one may be able to see if its a print or not from them

Thanks Lenny

I'll offer this for what it's worth:

My guess is a watercolour monochrome on rough paper with chalk highlights on some sort of buff-coloured paper. It may be a print of the same, but the subject (a building) isn't really something of major interest that would be mass produced. It's certainly very well done by someone with talent but again, the subject quite possibly was a personal rather than public appeal one. To determine what it is, you'll need to remove the glass from it and then it can easily be determined. You could also take it to a good art shop for an opinion. Just a view
