Can anyone supply me with reasons why this may not work, or suggestions for a different process?
I'm starting with an upholstered rocker. The seat will be replaced with wood and carved rigid foam, then thinset. For the back, I am looking to apply strips of plaster of paris, tacked to wood frame, directly on top of fabric. Then I will apply a few layers of thinset, followed by a mosaic application and grouted. Thoughts?

Hahaha! Hi! Update, decided to skip the plaster strips, and apply thinset directly to existing canvas.

I am not sure if it is strong enough to hold the weight. That's the only reason I can give.

Yep, Just, that's my concern too, but my fingers are crossed. Reinforcing wood frame now. Thanks for engaging
