Hi all, i was just wondering how many of you sell art over the internet either through your own website or through ebay or some other way. How much work do you get and could or do you make a living from it. I have sold some work through ebay and my website but not nearly as much as I would like. Also how do you get traffic to your site, facebook, twitter etc.

There is a large market for prints of original artworks online. Though I personally sell jewelry and digital downloads, not 2-demension art online, I have networked with artists who sell originals and prints from their websites/etsy/etc. The biggest thing is to figure out what sets you apart from the sea of other artists out there, and market on THAT to find your right audience.

Selling Originals or Prints On Line

I'm about to move in that direction. I'm set up with a couple of print on demands, but now that i'm more experienced in charcoal drawing I think I'll put a few up from my classes and see if I can get a little money. But I'm not sure which site might sell faster and have more art interest. I'm thinking Ebay or Amazon.

I sell my stuff through red bubble and society 6. I don't sell verymuch. My thought is that If people in another country wan't to buy something from me, we can go through one of these sites as the shipping costs from Sweden are very pricey.

I've seen allot of people building a following on instagram and sell their work from their own webshop. But you have to do something that really sticks out as the competition is really hard.

I see you do portraits. When I started drawing (again) I did portraits of all my facebookfriends. If they liked them they used them as profile pics and that's very good promotion. At times It was like I was just talking to my drawings, as everyone had one as a profilepic.

Regarding getting traffic to your website.. Key factors is getting high value rating from mayor search engines.. Keywords that reflects the content of your website.. Backlinks meaning share your domain adresse all relevant places.. Thats two of the main features of getting lots of traffic.. A term like SEO you can google to get a more detailed describsion to move forward with

I started an online store and go through Facebook and Instagram but that's not working because of all the hoops you have to go through. All they want is to make you pay for ads. So I have my site with all the Google analytics attached and post pics on Facebook until they decide to release commerce account from " review".
