Hi I am new here. I am looking for some advise. I am confident I will find some help here. I am looking to take pictures of my art. The pictures need to have a professional quality and work well with computers for uploading and scanning. I am hoping to get one for $500 or below.

The story behind this is I am in this midst of creating a budget and I am not sure what to look for. This is in hopes of recieving financial support from a local grant provider.

If you have any galleries around you that take pictures of your art they may be willing to discuss what equipment may help you

and/or

if you are talking about $500.00 investment, would it be cost effective just to have the gallery do it for you?

I'm sorry my friend, but you should know that this question is impossible to answer. It's like asking us, "what's the best camera," or "which is better, MAC or IBM?" We just can't do it! Oh well, you can try, and you'll get lots of answers, but this is one of those things that comes from self experience.

Personally speaking, if you're not looking to be a photographer, today's Samsung phones S8 and the latest iPhone takes stunning photographs (Samsung colors are better, JMHO), with very high output. My Samsung outputs 5312x2988. It's not quite at the level of DSLR, but it's up there.... Just add some good lighting and call it a day. You'll still more than likely need Photoshop to do some minor corrections..

This. It comes down to if you're really aiming to be a photographer or not. Other than that the question is indeed very hard to answer . What works fine for somebody else might not work fine for you and vice versa.
