Hi everyone!

I'm new here but by the looks of the community, I think I'll rather enjoy this!

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I've been drawing for years and have got, I think, pretty good at it for being self-taught. As a matter of fact, anything creative used to get my blood flowing. I love all forms of art and especially love trying my hand at everything.

However, for the past 3 years, any thought of engaging in any kind of artistic endeavour sends me into a complete panic attack. Just the mere thought of picking up my pencils, paintbrushes, writing, etc, etc, makes me want to run for the hills and bury my head.

Anyone else go through this? If so, what do you do to alleviate it? I'm so out of practice now that I"m sure I'm back to stick figures and I'm not happy.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! :vs_cool:

I know where you are coming from. One thing that helped me was when I patented a proportional drawing tool so that when I do animals and faces, that took a lot of my worries away. That is a very large part of making your art look real.

I just joined the forum

Hey! I think I understand what you are going through. It is probably something that all artists have in their head. When you pick up the brush, most of the times you expect to create something amazing and beautiful right? But sometimes, the ideas don’t come to you at all, so you start panic. Well then when you experience those feelings, I would advise you to try these grounding techniques right away Learning Grounding Techniques for Stopping Anxiety . They are extremely helpful. When I was depressed in my student years, aside from taking the pills, my therapist also recommended these techniques to me. And just that I got over my depression. I wish you the best of luck!
