Hello to everyone,
I am a student and I've been set a task with an English oil painting. I have a question with abbreviation of the date 12.77
Can someone, please, tell me what date and year is it ? The dot or it maybe a small 0 that comes after the number 2 and it maybe half way up in height between 2 and 7
Thank you,
Nicole

The last month (December) of any given century... Probably the painter didn't think his/her work still will be eligible in the next upcoming century(ies) so didn't marked the full date with the hundredyears. :-D
Or he/she did think his/her fame big enough for all people know which of the centuries was his/her period.
