Hi, nice to meet you all. Recently I've been developing an interest for sketching and drawing and I want to buy some material, thou I'm clueless which of them are what we need because there's so many different types of it. I made a list and I want some advice on which of them are essential and which might be a waste or not, because it gets too expensive to get them all.

Charcoal sticks (soft, medium, hard)
Graphite sticks (soft, medium, hard... 2B, 4B, 6B?)
Pure graphite pencil 6B
White Eraser
Pen Eraser
Art Eraser
Knife/Pencil Sharpener
Sandpaper (which kind?)
Tortillon (of several sizes)
Pure Charcoal Pencil (soft, medium, hard)
Graphite Pencils (art set 8B-2H, or individual ones)
Pencil Extender
Mechanical Pencil 0.5/0.9 and mines HB/2B

I would start out with the following for drawing.

Graphite sticks (Love those and however not neccesary they come cheap enough)
Kneaded eraser (First choice eraser as it is very versatile because its pliable and can be molded into different shapes)
Pen Eraser (unbeatable for precision erasing, i.e. highlighting hair etc., a Tombow Mono Zero is awesome)
Knife/Pencil Sharpener (get a cheap pencil sharpener with a hand crank, you will love it)
Tortillon (blending tool which you will love as well, get a small one and a bigger one)
Graphite Pencils (2H/HB/2B/4B/6B) (for an 8B try to get a Staedler Mars Lumograph, its superior)

Welcome

Hi, thank you for the reply.

Chose these ones so far, still came a bit expensive but I'd rather have materials with good reviews than risking buying bad ones.
Was gonna choose all the graphite pencils as Faber-castell 9000 because I like their feel and I use the HB one often in school but since 4B wasn't available I went with some Lumographs to test them. Forgot to add paper because I'm gonna buy those 500 pages blocks you use on printers, don't think there's any point in buying proper drawing paper for a beginner, especially with the price range of it.
Will try to find a site with more options and cheaper material, and await for more opinions before proceeding with the purchase.

I live in West Europe by the way, if someone knows cheap sites for this area, especially around Portugal/Spain, as it would take less time to get it and the ports would be cheaper.

Thanks again.

I'm from the Netherlands so I cant help you there. The Lumographs and the Castel 9000's would have been my first choice, you cant go wrong with either of those.
