: An explanation and greeting.

My interest in joining the community here is multi-layered.
Firstly, I am interested in art. I can't paint, draw or sculpt but I do like to photograph. My interest in art is from a sociological and philosophical one, brought to me by my father, an uneducated man who dragged me to every gallery and exhibition in Sydney while I was young enough not to resist. His interest was the joy it brought him and, to this day, I carry that with me.
Secondly, I have been called an artist by my colleagues and friends. That worries me a bit. I don't know what it entails. I have read that I must suffer, search and feel rejection before I can be a true artist. Perhaps its because I am opinionated, poor and scruffy. Time will tell.
Thirdly, I am retired. According to my wife, that means I lay about the house all day doing SFA: something I deny profusely. But she insists I get out and meet people. At the moment, this is as close as I want to get.
Fourthly, I like writing.

I'll leave it there for the moment and have a look around the site.

Here's a picture to start.
