: Going to do commission (help)

So, I've finally decided to do what friends have prompted me to do for a very, very, very long time. Commissions. I've always been insecure about my work, but recently I have improved a fair bit and actually feel confident enough to give it a go.
I'm planning on starting really small. I'll probably start at DeviantArt, as commissions are a common thing there and it's a pretty safe space for this sort of thing from what I've gathered, and with one or two slots, to prevent things from getting overwhelming.

Having no experience with it whatsoever, however, I could really use some advice. I plan on doing both traditional artwork (stuff like charcoal, watercolor and acrylics) as well as digital and I still find coming up with prices for my artwork a tricky thing to do.
So I know a few people here sell of have sold artwork so my question would be; what kind of prices would you guys recommend starting with as someone who doesn't yet have a big, solid following?

In the spoiler I've put the list of things I plan to put a price-tag on, to give an idea of how I want to categorize things. (don't worry, I'm not expecting suggestions for every single one of these. General suggestions and maybe your own personal experiences would really help)

I'm also working on a 'pitch' so if I could get feedback on that once it's done as well, that'd be great. I know the work itself is what's going to have to be marketable, but I feel having a strong pitch certainly can't hurt.

This is fantastic your starting to sell now I'm about to start to sell soon because the contract I'm locked in with the music label is up the end of the month yaY!
any info I get ill post for you and in return I know I'll appreciate any info I can get off you x
I think you should sell your digital art at the same price as traditional art & I see your using Wix web builder for your gallery, have you heard of Weebly?
if you'd like an advert free website I can make Weebly sites Pro (add free) so visitors have no interruptions, check it out let me know and good luck!

Wow, that's a pretty cool coincidence!
And sounds good. I've been doing a fair bit of research so far about pricing (hasn't made things any less difficult, but has given me some insight) so I'll definitely keep you posted.
One thing so far that really stuck with me was that a lot of people insisted to never go below minimum wage for a piece, and that sounded pretty reasonable.
I don't know... Thing is; with my Photoshop student's license there are far less costs involved than when I do a painting on a large, high quality canvas, so I do feel it's fair to factor that in.
As for Weebly; that is a really nice offer! I do kind of worry about the fact that I have already spread the wix site a fair bit and I'm hesitant to change things up too often, as I've already done that a few times before. I'll definitely think about it, though, thank you!

That is a great move Inge! You are so ready for it, your work is top notch!

As far as pricing, I am helpless. Good luck!

if you are refering to the muslim rant thats going on globally you lost alot of sympathy points to me. you should worry alot more about
what capitalism is turning into and why out of a sudden the arabic culture is labeled as evil.

the inbetween poor and rich comes closer and closer to non existant while less and less people have more and more money if that makes sense with my engrish....

and even if all muslims are evil and bad you should know that its possible to change dont you. im sorry to kind of further derail this thread inge but yeah..
pegida shit and whatever its called in england is for dumb people only. the end.

well to put this thread back on track i wish you all the best with selling your artwork. if i misunderstood your post meli i wish for you the same - if i was on spot i dont care what
you do ;)
