I've been trying to use this tube of paint but it just doesn't spread like my other paints. Is this normal for this brand?

just read some reviews on liquitex on amazon and ebay.....

"Half-filled tubes are bad enough. Horrible paint that doesn't spread well. This is really children's paint. Don't waste your money."

"Liquitex's Basic paint. You are paying more for smaller amounts of cheaper quality paint. Buyer beware."

"Very disappointing. I would have returned them but my husband, after waiting for these paints to arrive so he could start to use them, got angry and threw two of them away immediately. He will continue to use the rest as well as he can."

(it doesn't look good does it) but apparently theres a huge diff between the basic and pro versions

I would personally contact the vendor you bought it from and tell them. Usually most companies will send you another tube gratis.

Having read Meli's post and seeing that these are VERY introductory paints.. Why not get some of the best you can for the same price? I looked at Jerry's (my main supplier) and they have 200 ml LUKAS CRYL Pastos Acrylics for about $9-10 for most colors. That's a whopping 7 oz (twice the size of the Liquitex that sell for ~$5.) I LOVE Lukas and use the Lukas line of Professional watercolors. Best move I ever made in my work.

Just my $.02

That's a great idea, I'll do that.

Thanks but I'm in love with Chroma's Ateliar Interactive paint. I just did a little review of it here (https://www.artistforum.com/art-supplies-reviews/ateliar-interactive-acrylic-paint-30050/#post190370).

The Lukas paints are really cheap for a pro paint?? Looks like I could get twice as much for half the price. I only saw one review of lumpy paint. Most thought it was pretty good paint. I'll have to try it someday. The price is right!

I have the same problem with the Liquitex brown I bought. I thought there was something wrong with the tube that made it so tacky.

To me Liquitex Basics seems fine other than that brown paint, although it's the only brand of acrylic paint I've used so don't have anything else to compare it with. Maybe I should give another brand a try.
