Before getting into art, I didn't understand the phenomenon of the self portrait. I think I do now. Its about deep honesty of one's craft: One must faithfully transfer to his chosen medium his own likeness. Not an easy task, I found. This is my third try, the first two will never be seen by anyone else. (They are that bad). Self image and all of its mixed up assumptions comes into play. Hopefully the product of such an exercise will be an increased honest and accurate interpretation and subsequent representation of the world about me. I had to face my own mortality in doing this. I have more wrinkles, grey hair, blemishes, sour expressions and frowns than I even imagined. So , I am crazy for doing this, but here I am. (And yes, I look like a throwback to the 19th century).

I think it's great! So with this thread are you going to be doing multiple angles and mediums? You don't look a day over 25 - don't see that many wrinkles buddy. Now the grey hair - eh - I had those when I was in my 20' is what it is. Adds character.

Very nice!!!

This looks great, Don! (I've had gray hair since my 20's, too.)
