Yesterday being the Winter Solstice we had our traditional family get together at my house and let the grandkids open presents. Christmas day is the official big presents day, but it's so much fun stretching it out.

The holidays wear me out so bad. I'm going to go to the doctor today to see if he could give me something for my aching back. Maybe a shot.

Today is a really big day in our family. My granddaughter Josie is having her gastro feeding tube removed. She had very serious problems when she was born and has had a feeding tube since she was 6 months old. She is now 5. The last 4 months she's managed to gain weight without any supplemental feedings so the gastro doctor said it's finally time to remove the tube. YAY. We are going to have a party for her at Cracker Barrel tonight and flood her with presents. We call her our Hero. She is the one that is on the bottom left in this picture.

There is not much that can replace the smiles.

I'm lucky that most of my family lives with in 60 miles of me an I see them weekly at the most. But the 24th this year will be about my only true day of rest.

Can't wait to hear what the surprise is Victoria. Happy Birthday.

I'm taking my 8 year old granddaughter to see Star Wars today. Christmas eve can be hard on kids waiting to open their presents. I hope she enjoys it.

Yesterday I took my two 8 year old granddaughters to the skating rink. They had such a good time I had to give them Tylenol last night because they were hurting from all the flops. Actually they are both good skaters but keep trying new stuff and plop.

The party Tuesday night at Cracker Barrel was wonderful. Josie really felt so special and proud that she has overcome her medical problems. It was a truly joyous celebration.

Tomorrow is opening presents in the morning and then a Really Big Christmas get-together at my daughter-in-law's Mom's farm. I'm going to have to check into the hospital by the time these holidays are over.:vs_smirk:

I have never gone to a spa, but maybe you should go and you will find it totally wonderful and that would make him happy and you also. I think my husband would get insulted if I refunded his present, but then he would never give me anything that expensive.

I don't have much experience with relationships. The nearest I've been to having a girlfriend is my best friend who, unfortunately is not and probably never will be interested in me in that way. But I can tell you, it means a lot to me to feel like the things I give her make her happy. But there are two sides to the coin. Sure it's more polite to act like you like a gift even though you don't but how will your partner ever learn what really does make you happy if they think you like things that you actually don't? Honesty in a gentle way is often more endearing in the long run then thanks when you aren't thankful. You can on the other hand, just be glad they care enough to do something for you.

Then there's this, there isn't anything I'd rather do with my money than spend it on spoiling my few friends. Maybe it's because I know what it is to be alone but if I were married I'd be spoiling her every chance I got.
Just some early morning-not-quite-awake thoughts.
