Bear with me...I am injured, so I am typing left handed, and it sucks. This also means art is on hold.
I was a very creative kid. In grade school I tried it mom would bring me ceramics to paint, sketchbooks, paint by number kits, I loved all that stuff.
I took art in Junior High, and did really well, but the bug just didn't stick. I continued to be creative over the years, but I didn't draw again until 2009.
I was working in a doctor's office and I would draw on our dry erase board. Over time the stick figures evolved to the point where the docs and drug reps were taking pics of my dry erase drawings. I started drawing a little at home, and once I quit working and we moved back to my husband's hometown, I was able to devote more time to sketchbook.

So, I can thank a dry erase board in Jacksonville Arkansas for restarting my drawing.

Great story Leighann. Isn't it interesting how so many of us have had a long stretch of time in our lives that we pretty much went dormant when it comes to art. I think it has a lot to do with our money earning mentality. Our minds say you have to be exceptionally great to make enough money in art to live on so we just stop and pursue something that will give us security.

Yay for the white board in the doctors office! It make that spark needed to start the fire.

You may actually be able to turn your injury into a plus, kiddo. Think about it... Most people use their strong hand to get too tight & controlled whereas they have trubbs being loosie-goosie... & that can be better. So try doing sumthin difrent. Maybe have a few shots of tehkillyer or wine. Put a panel/paper/canvas/sumthin on a wall in front of you & PAINT sumthin. No small brushes. No detail. Big & crazie. You can't fail, only experience & learn from it. Its only paint & can be painted over. Bin there & dunnit.

I like sorin idea, I think it would be very funny too >.<
And it's true, most of people made a pause to art in their lifes, and it might be that reason Terry

You said you worked in a doctor's office, as an assistant or with a medical-title?

Terry, it's my right elbow. I think it's tennis elbow. It's been bothering me for several days, then I woke up Sunday morning and my hand and forearm were both swollen twice normal size. The pain is really annoying me, and I do not like not being unable to draw.

FanKi, I was an office assistant. Made appointments and such. I was laid off from my main job for a year, so I worked there. It was fun. :)

I sure hope you are getting your elbow checked out Leighann. The swelling is a bad sign.
