: WHOA.. What's This?

so I am looking through someone's album.. I go through maybe 10 or so pictures... and all the the sudden this white page pops up saying advertisement.. and it will redirect me back to the site in 30 seconds?

I don't mind the ads on the page... but I don't like redirects.. no sir.. not at all.. this can lead to problems. Is there a way around this? Has anyone else had this happen? This is the first time in a LOT of browsing on this site it has happened to me.

Thanks

Not had this happen to me so far, can you remember which page you were on?

No this is not done by the foruml. I'll investigate it and see what I can find out. Thanks for mentioning it. I'll let you know what I find out.

Well I was thinking that maybe one of Schooljerk's pictures has some hidden link that would redirect but I checked all his pictures and there is none.

I will send a note to the admin about this and see what they say. As I said in an earlier thread...our support from the admins leave a lot to be desired.

Do you recall what the advertisement you were redirected to was? Also was it a pop-up or was your page actually changed to be on the advertises site?

Please if this happens to anyone else, let me know so I can document it for the admins.

OK -- I'll send a note to the Artadmin and if anyone else has this happen please let me know so I can keep track of it.

How strange! I have never seen that happen before. I went to schooljerk's profile and cruised through his pictures and it didn't happen to me. I wonder what's up with that? Hopefully an answer can be found.

Hello everyone,

Which browsers are you using when the redirect occurs and would it be possible for you to take a screenshot of the page when it appears again? I looked around Schooljerk's album on Chrome and the redirect did not occur.

Thanks for the help!

WOW- I'm impressed Kay. I take back what I said about requests taking a long time from the Admin you got right on it.

Thanks so much for taking time to look at this Kay. I was using Firefox when this occured. It was looking at the album Schooljerk has.. but on the automated page (Where you click next picture, previous picture etc.) It was after about 6 or 7 pictures that it happened.

Hope that Helps

Would you believe there are two admins working on this. I just got a note from Marie asking for the same info. I'm going tell her to check the thread so she can coordinate the effort with Kay.

I still can't make the odd redirect page appear even after going through his album twice. If you see it again, please take a screenshot as we need help tracking it down.

Thank you!

Seems to me it was a one time fluke. Perhaps we should just sit on this unless it happens again. If it happens again maybe we can get more info about it.

Yes.. I tried to recreate it today as well and couldn't. I even tried "accidentally" clicking on links etc.. nothing made it do the same thing.. perhaps just a one time fluke like Terry said.

You have a virus called Ads by GeniusBox effecting this sight. The adds keep popping up and are disrupting my use of the forum. I'm currently running my malware program to make sure it's not just my computer.

Thanks Lee!

I thought it might have been browser add on on Eddie's computer.. because I haven't noticed it on mine and I have used 3 different browsers to access the site. Great info on the removal tool.. Appreciate it!

I found the browser add on on my computer not sure where it came from but I got rid of it and everything is working fine now. I have a new laptop and it doesn't have as much protection as my old one so I seem to be picking up everything that comes up the pike. The adware has been the worst.

I have personally not had any issues on my home computer however my work computer red flagged this site for malicious behavior and locked my entire system down and now I have to get a new computer.

I did tell ARTadmin that this site has something going on.

If you don't have any application protecting you from malware, and you don't want to spend any money on it, I would recommend getting Windows Security Essentials installs. You can download it from Microsoft and look up the instructions on how to install it. I've used it with my older computer before I decided on buying one. It does the job pretty well.

That's what I put on my computer. Also I'm using Malwarebytes, I'm probably going to pop for the full version of that one. It is hunting down and destroying everything for me right now.
