Yesterday turned out to be a very busy day for me, and not busy with art. Today I plan to work a lot on my Tiger picture. I was going to call this one 'Momma' Tiger until I realized that's what I called my last tiger picture...LOL. Oh well she will be "Momma Tiger II".

The way I like to do my paintings of portraits is to get it on the canvas in an outline, then tape out the edges and do the background before painting the subject. So I'm up to the background piece and can't decide what I'm going to do with it.

I was thinking an impression of bamboo trees -- not distinct just giving the illusion that's what is there. Or maybe just a camouflage background like I did in my other Momma Tiger. Then I was thinking maybe a field with trees in the background - realistic like. Any suggestions? I want to keep the background predominantly green because the orange of the tiger would show good on that....actually the complement of orange is blue isn't it ... do you think a blue back ground would be better? Maybe a sky type background. Ugh.. why am I wavering on this? It's so unlike me.

How's the flooring coming along Chanda? That's some hard work.

I'm real enthused with the forum being active these days. Love to talk to you folks.

Good morning! I think you are on the right track with the background of the tiger. I might look towards a darker or more muted green so as not to compete with the orange of the tiger. You really do vibrant work but I think in this case you want the tiger to be the focus so maybe a background that isn't so vibrant might work well. But that's my vision and this is YOUR painting and ultimately I think you should do what your heart tells you! I know it will come out wonderful no matter what.

My flooring..well I have big empty dining room with nothing but concrete showing. Hopefully soon we can lay the floor down. At the moment I am overwhelmed and tired and frustrated. We have been sick..the house looks like a bomb went off..we have have soccer practices and games and picture taking and awana and on and on and on. We are in the midst of replacing our septic tank and got shot down from a company an hour away who said we could find somebody local a lot cheaper..the local guy gave us an estimate of 7,000..that's 1,500 MORE than the estimate of the guy an hour away..so stressing with that. oh well..will get through it I suppose.

Would love to work on my drawing but not sure what we have going on at lunch yet. Every time I get on a roll with it something else decides it needs to be more important.

I hope you all have a great day. I am also incredibly happy to see the activity on this forum.

WOW septics sure are more expensive in New Mexico than in Arkansas.

Sorry about all the issues going on. Sounds like you home has been costing you a lot lately, but it will all be worth it. Every penny put into improvements is money well spent.

I know all about running here and there and all over with kids. My son Jim has 4 kids and I'm always helping out because they can't be in two places at once or rather 4 places at once. They also have a babysitter that helps out.

LOL..I think everything is more expensive here. To drill a well here is insanely expensive..our last well we had to go down 900 feet. That was pricey.

This home is a nice home but after a while things go south. This summer alone we are renovating both bathrooms..the pantry..getting a new washer and dryer because mine are literally on the brink of death..replacing the septic tank..replacing floors in the pantry/laundry room..kitchen..dining room and front and back entryways..and rocking the wall behind our wood stove and laying tile beneath it..all of it (aside from the septic tank) will be done by us. My head hurts thinking about it. All we have done so far is the flooring in the kitchen and started the dining room. I have the parts to fix the bathrooms but beyond that..we have to re-sheetrock, re-tile and paint. Need new toilets too. Gotta make a list I think.

Yeah I would say a list would be in order. WOW.

I put a little bit of highlight and a shadow on the William the Goat picture. I'm going to upload it in little bit. Thank you Chanda for the suggestion.

William the Goat is as cute as can be and you need to frame him!
