Hi guys,
Just thought I would let you know I'm still alive. :)
Hope your all well.

Went to my sisters for a break, and ended up putting my back out.
So been feeling sorry for myself for about a week, I am home now and trying to get back on my feet.

The pain is awful, An MRI scan shows I have 3 disc's in my spine that are bulging out and squashing a nerve which is giving me pain all down the back of my left leg.
Sitting up is painful, walking is painful & lying down is painful.
Can't sleep and drawing (most distressing of all) is out of the question...for now.

Have been recommended pain killers (which don't help) &
Exercises (That are impossible to do) .

I am open to any help/advice from anyone who has had experience of this type of injury.

Carl.

I'm so sorry you have this pain. Sounds like you might need surgery. My Daughter-in-law had surgery for a disc problem. I don't remember exactly what the problem was but the recovery was not too long, about a week until she could do most anything except heavy stuff. Her surgery was non-evasive. Has your doctor suggested talking to a surgeon?

Hi Terry, yes surgery was mentioned, but honestly didn't like the sound of possible negative outcomes. Was told that it may get better over time, once the nerve stops sending signals to the brain, but this could take up a year.
Physiotherapy seems the next step, but if the pain doesn't get any better soon I will jump at the chance of surgery.

I'm glad it worked out well for your daughter in law, I would'nt wish this on my worst enemy.

Sorry for the pity post, but really grasping at straws for some relief.

I was going to 'like' your post letting you know that I read it and understood and felt for you, but then it just didn't seem right to 'like' a post that someone talks about pain.

You are in my thoughts and I'm sending positive vibes your way across the pond. Keep in touch and sure hope you can get back to your drawing soon.
