: GIMP anyone?

I'm still having trouble learning it. I guess that's not uncommon. Seems like the basic things of how to open files, deal with layers and all that - is still tripping me up despite having watched tutorials and thinking "OK! Got it now!"

What I want to practice for now is how to graft part of one image into another. Just easy crazy goofy stuff to get started (and for posting online). Say I want to cut out my rabbit's head from one picture and graft him onto a superhero or team mascot in another. Should be fun and easy, right? But I can't do it! Help!

If I can't even do these things how will I ever be able to become proficient with GIMP in a more serious way?!

Like Photoshop, GIMP has a pretty good learning curve...once you understand layers that is a battle well worth winning. Starting out slowly and taking in little bits at a time will help you overcome what you are looking for.

Here is a site that I learn a lot about everything I need to know about new software, it's not free but the tutorials are awesome and well worth the money...

I'll look for the Lynda.com videos on you that are free that could help you out...
