Hi everyone, I'm going to an international school in France and I wanted to apply to this year yearbook's cover. But the theme is : "It's how we're put together that sets us apart" I don't have any ideas how to represent this with a drawing. Plus I'm not so good in english so I'm not sure I'm understanding this quote correctly. Thank you for your suggestions ! :)

When I first read the theme, I immediately thought of different cultures and the differentials of all of the races, beliefs, physical stature and so on...the question is how to stay within the theme but do something other than expected. When is the deadline for the entry? I'll start thinking and lets brainstorm on this!!!

Yes that's what I though about also ! But I have no idea how to represent it in an original way. The dead line is in 2 weeks. Thank's for the help !

What about stepping way outside the realm...When I say stepping outside, I mean what about different shoes that people wear for all walks of life...even using the barefoot could be in play...Now granted this may be a very long shot of getting chosen for the cover but I will suspect many who enter this will have the same types of responses to this theme. Baby shoes, work shoes, play and former wear shoes...slippers what ever you can composite into a very graphical and emotional image. Shoes of the different cultures...only two weeks is not a lot of time to put this together. I'll try to come up with a thumbnail sketch to demonstrate what the possibilities could look like. What ever you decide, I would recommend having the premise by the middle of the week. Also, what medium will you be illustrating this entry?

I think that's a great idea !! But does it go with the beginning of the quote ? "It's how we're put together" I think i'll be using mostly pencils. And a sketch to help me visualize your idea will be great ! thank's a lot !!

Not sure if it fits or not but would be different and if done correctly may just have a chance to pull it off. You could also do a representation of wardrobe as well...these are just ideas kicking around until something sticks. I have always found that doing something different results in many failures or should I say not chosen to represent whatever criteria the committee is looking for but art is all speculation is how you illustrate the piece and how well it works visually that will bring it to their attention...if the piece that you do is not a hi-comp and finished piece it will not matter regardless of how great the initial idea is. So lets kick this idea around and have no real hardline drawn until you get some ideas flowing. What about the clothes people wear or a presentation of all people combined. Our growing of knowledge...the ideas are endless but your time is not...mmm! Time? maybe something showing time as well.

Another question, What style of art will you do this in and what style fits your art work...Expressionism, realism, pop art, modern, abstract?...this will play a role in what the subject matter will be also.
