Everyone has their own way of painting the only way to learn is to just paint and get the feel of it. Look up acrylic painting video tutorials on youtube, I'm sure you'll pick up some techniques there

Jpg is good for the web because it compresses well into a small file sizes but if you want high quality pics for instance to use for print, png is better. I use png files for POD sites.

Do you mean watercolor block? Paper in a watercolor pad will buckle if it's too wet. I tape my watercolor paper down to a sturdy board.

Watercolor paintings and supplies don't need a lot of space to store but you still need space to paint. I paint on a drafting table.
