Not wishing to argue here, but one cannot cover art and artists with such a blanket.
Just 100 years ago among the middle and upper classes everyone was expected to have abilities in art, it was considered unusual not to be able to sketch or paint. They all were taught skills (and skills are taught) necessary to accomplish decent art works. Most of art is in the skills and techniques.
Then you have the "Masters", they are the God gifted ones, they see things (and thus render their subjects) differently. They take it beyond teachers of the craft, it is in their hearts and souls, you would have better success to tell them to stop breathing than to demand they give up their art.
