What kind of music inspires you to draw?

I'm always courious about what kind of music inspires other artist.

I know for myself It depends on what I'm drawing. If I'm drawing a city scape at night I like to listen to soft jazz, or blade runner blues.

Or if its giant robots then it heavy metal.

What are some different types of music that gets you all inspired?

i like listening to Such bands as CancerSlug, BlackFlag, Roky Erikson and other hard n fast punk/metal when im doing fast chaotic painting, like a painting i did of charles Manson last night, listening to Misfits cos i was hammering it out fast.
But then again if im laid back drawing and painting slowly ill put on old blues records or hank williams or sumthing along those lines to mellow me out, great relaxing records!

Yeah it really does depends, on what you are drawing. For what kind of mood you want to be in.

I suppose I am a strange bird but music and sounds distract me. I prefer silence and to be alone. I like to get lost in my work...sadly I am surrounded by three big dogs and a six year old so getting lost in my work never happens anymore. I am forced to draw at work on my lunch hours when I have 45 minutes of PEACE.

I vary, too. I've noticed that sometimes I assign a song to a painting. For example, I painted my elephant (Savannah's Reflection) listening only to Bouncing Off Clouds by Tori Amos on repeat; it's not my favorite song by her, and it's not even a very good song, but for whatever reason it's what I chose. Sometimes a line from a song triggers a thought for a painting or sculpture.

I did an ink drawing of Bjork once, because she was what I was listening to, and I needed practice.

I notice that "upbeat" songs make me paint faster, but that I also have a greater tendency to get up and pace when I listen to them. Right now I'm listening to Shakira and I'm soooooo focussed on my painting, let me tell you. :P

I tend to listen to instrumentals (usually something by Nine Inch Nails) when I'm doing referenced commissions, but when I'm doing a still-life where I'm trying to learn and be attentive, I find silence to be the best option.

Music freak here. I may start off with Beethoven and end up with ZZ Top or vice versa during a single sitting. Generally listen to Pandora or my ipod.

Pandora? I don't think I've ever heard of them. What kind of music do they play?

Pandora is a .com company that plays any type of music you wish to listen to. If interested just type in 'Pandora.com' and check it out. It's free.

Rishloo

These guys are from Seattle, WA. No longer together, but they wrote beautiful music together and the guitarist and bass player did all their artwork.
