help please need direction

Hi, can anyone tell me what type of tools, media etc would a piece like this require to create? I like scifi\fantasy stuff and this is concept work from some fav games and books. I want to try and create images similar to this for fun but I don't know what tools were used?

Well first of all..how well do you draw? These are incredibly detailed and complex pieces that require a great deal of artistic skill regardless of the medium used.

It doesn't matter what medium the artist used. Creating an exact replica of these pieces of art will be VERY difficult even if you did know what medium they used. You can create similar images using almost any medium (digital, painting, colored pencil, etc.) as long as you are both comfortable and highly skilled with the medium you choose. I suspect that most of these were done digitally.

What I can suggest is attempt them with a medium you are familiar with and have fun with it.

Thank you for trying to help! Just for info I believe I'm better than some but not as good as this! I want to do original pieces and this style is what motivates me, unfortunately these pics remain a mystery as to what tools are being used.

at first glance, I believe these are the result of computer generated imagery. ie - they used a computer to build an environment, objects, and lighting. Games have gotten insanely amazing as far as beautiful imagery.

E Scribbler comes to mind here on the board - creator of some really really cool cgi images.
