Daily Chat - April 25

Gonna breeze in and breeze out today! Have a great day and hope you all get something creative done.

As for me - I am fixing to leave for our early soccer game..go to wal-mart - come home - change clothes - grab the truck and run back for hay and baseboards. Get to come home - stain baseboards, do laundry then wait for the farrier at 2:00, unload hay then? rest? I hope so.

Happy Saturday!!!!

The weather is in the 80's here. Going to be working outside today. I use to love doing outside work but now at 66 I get so worn out so fast!

I'm planning to pick out my first piece of wood and pencil it up for my husband to cut it down to size. Then I'm going to Gesso it as per David's suggestion. I'm only going to do one piece for now. It will have to sit for 6 months. This is going to be a fun experiment.

David when you say it splits or cracks are you using very thin pieces of wood? These pieces that I have are about 1 to 2 inches thick.

Also today I'm planning to varnish some work that has been dry for awhile.

And if I get all that done, it's back to my picture that I'm working on.

I look forward to seeing it Terry.

I have been on the run all day. I am exhausted and need rest but still have a lot to do. I put the Wizard of Oz on for the kid and that at least has him out of my hair.

I realized this morning that I forgot my drawing pad..it's at work..head to desk. I thought I grabbed it. oh well. I have substituted that for photography.

I hope later on I will get a chance to come back and really look through today's posts.

Hope you have all had a good day.

Checks (splitting) are going to happen.. if you leave it thicker it may not check as much.. or it might. Each piece of wood is different.. I would at least do 3 or 4 pieces of wood to get one And I woudl Gesso BOTH sides.. it stops it from drying so fast (thus the checking)

I made a beautiful bowl once.. It was awesome.. it was only about 1/2" thick (Which shouldn't have cracked).. After 6 months my wife was able to use it to put a dried floral arrangement in after I glued it back together.. ROTFLOL!

Chanda.. get some rest young lady!

Well I picked out two pieces for John to cut for me. I'll work with them and see what happens.
