Daily Chat - April 20, 2015

I had an exciting weekend. My oldest granddaughter played in a softball tournament. They won all 5 games they played. With 2, or at most 3, games to go the tournament got rained out. I lost my voice from all the yelling I did. I get very enthused at these games.

Yesterday we had to use our storm cellar. First time in 25 years of living here. It was so scary. A tornado hit 4 miles away from us. I use to swear I would never go in that storm cellar I would rather die, but I guess that was just bravado because when the time came I had no qualms about it.

Today I'm working on the pictures I started, William the Goat and the Mountain. A nice relaxing day planned. My favorite kind of day.

Did some work on William the Goat. I'll still be doing a lot of work on his fur but it has to dry now.

Oh my goodness I love William the Goat Terry! Keep it up. I am going to work on my drawing again today..yay!!!

Congrats to your granddaughter! How exciting! Sorry to hear about the use of the storm cellar. I hate tornadoes. Grew up in an area that got small ones and small ones are enough for me. Here we never see them but of course that doesn't mean we won't. It seems with the change weather patterns we are seeing more of them. The past few years the mountains in the central part of the state have had tornadoes..and that's just strange.

My weekend was a blur. Saturday was my kiddos game and grocery shopping and Sunday was spent in the mountains for most of the day and the afternoon was laundry catchup and then it was over.

My kid's team lost again..their coach is not committed to these kids and they all have talent but she missed their first game..only holds half an hour practices and is always late (so they really only get 15 to 20 minute practices) and she didn't make it to this last game (which coincidentally was also picture day so they didn't get to take team pictures and I am unhappy about that because I paid for team pictures). They have played 4 games and his coach has been gone for 2 of them. I am grateful that in the fall he will have a new team and a new coach..this one isn't working out. My kid is a pretty good player and he is getting very discouraged. He did make an amazing goal from half the field this past game and I told him to focus on his own skills and his own personal goals. Work on getting those goals and doing good dribble work. That's all I can do..encourage him during a very discouraging time.

If you get bored here is a quick video of my kiddo in his game on saturday. I tried embedding (this is actually a test to see if you can embed videos and so far it failed). He played well despite it all..He loves the game of soccer and I pray this does not discourage him completely. We still have 4 more games to go and I don't foresee any wins at this rate. Mine is the blondie boy in red.

Oh what a shame about Christopher's coach. Hope the next one is a winner.

Johanna has lucked out with a really good coach. She is on a team that is 8,9, and 10 year olds. Since she is only 8 she will be with the same team for two more years. Already she is one of the best on the team. She is a very strong 8 year old, especially for a girl, she can hit that ball hard and has made at least one run every time she has played. Definitely does not take after, me, or her mom or her mom's mom -- we are all whimps at sports.

I was able to watch it. Is that Christopher who is kicking the ball each time?

He looks like he's better than the others. It must be frustrating for him.

He practices EVERY day. He goes home and runs into the backyard with his soccer ball and practices for hours. He has a lot of dedication to it right now. I would love to see him on a team with some other kids as dedicated as him...and there are some incredible kids playing. They try to pair kids who have played with kids who have never played..so you have some teams that are a mishmash..then you have teams that are on the same team every season because of their location (the indian schools are a good example)..so those kids kick butt because they are seasoned teams who play together each and every season.

This summer they are hosting a UK soccer camp where they bring professionals from the UK to coach the kids for a week. I hope that helps him get over this season. :-)
