I'm new here and wanted to say hello and show some of my work.

I live next the the Allegheny National Forest, own 4 horses, 1 dog - Rottweiler, 2 cats, and 8 chickens. I was born and raised in Pittsurgh, PA, got tired of city life and moved into this rural quiet area back in May of 2003.

My love for animals and nature has inspired to create rustic art.

Here are a few samples of my work.

I create many pieces and sell them as a vendor at local art and craft shows. I sell many pieces throughout the year. It seems that January through April are very slow in sales so I spend the time to rebuild my inventory.

I create highly detailed work, and take pride in each piece. I wouldn't sell anything that I wouldn't display in my own home.

And I like what you said about not selling something you wouldn't display at home. That's a good rule-of-thumb to live by.

Your art is worderful and definately art. I am enjoying seeing everybody's specialty. Your wood burning is something I was not aware that could be so finely done. How long does it take to do something of the quality of that knight? Your bear looks like a photo. I also like your charcol tiger cubs on your profile page.

Thank you Brandi and DLeeG for the kind comments. The pyrography takes a LOT of patients I think I have 10 hours into this. I tinker around with all mediums, and try my hand at new ones also.

I create rustic log slice signs and do custom work the signs are a huge seller in my area. I found a market for them.

Your work is gorgeous and welcome to the forum! There are so many things I want to try my hand at and woodburning is one of them. Looking forward to seeing more.

Wood burning is easy, you can purcase an inexpensive starter set at WalMart to see if you like it. I have two burners, Optima Dual, and the Detailer. The pens and tips can be expensive, but they pay for themselves.

Some time over the winter I'm going to try my hand at wood carving it's something I've been wanting to do.

omg I am in awe of your work. I am envious of your attention to detail. That woodburn is incredible. I have been itching to try out woodburning myself.

Your work is fantastic also, the horses you draw are very well conformed and correct. This is coming from a serious horse lover who owns 4 of them.

Get a cheap wood burner and a piece of wood and give it a try. I think you would be a natural at it. It would give you a chance to expand your talent.

I tinker around with several art mediums so I don't get bored. I'm thinking about doing a charcoal sketch of a lunar equine scene that's in my head. I'll create after Thanksgiving some time and post it here.

I love your burnings . Your butterfly amazes me.

When I was a little kid (7-8?) my mom had me and my siblings do some wood burnings of some sketches she had. She did most the burning ... but I remember how cool I thought they looked/smelled.

I saw some guy in a magazine burn wood with a magnifying glass and the sun, and I thought that was really awesome as well. He sketched a design on first and then went to work. I wish I could remember which magazine it was in.
