Gifting art

I’m an upcoming artist. Started about a year ago and have sold a few paintings at a decently good price. My mother wants to gift one of my paintings to someone. I’m just wondering if that’s a good idea. Does it give an idea of low value if it’s gifted ? I’ve had a previous bad experience with a relative who sort of expected me to paint and pay only cost of materials. Thank you for your help in advance 🙂

If your mother wants to gift your painting, charge her for it. I think relatives will always expect you to do work of any kind as a favor and I understand it. That said , I don't mind gifting if I have the time and really it get's my work in front of more people that may want to buy from me.

Wowza! I love it, but then, I'm a sucker for a snow scene.
