Query on Emulsion Lifts (NON Polaroid source)
Since the whole emulsion transference process uses both photography and painting techniques, I'm posting in Mixed Media. Please feel free to redirect me if I am in the wrong sector. :)
I am working with emulsion lifting of a bunch of my own photographs, NONE of which are Polaroids, and I'm having a lot of trouble finding any information about specific issues online; let alone any kind of comprehensive guide.
I'm hoping that a detailed, well-written guide for this awesome little technique exists, and that someone here may be able to point me in the right direction.
Specifically, the issues I'm looking to address are:
1) Optimal printer type(s) for photos to transfer(or lift)
2) Optimal paper type(s) " "
3) Troubleshooting info for the process
I've printed and transferred a good few photos, all using an HP 2620 Officejet printer and a variety of photo-specific papers. I've seen wildly variant results from these, which I'd be glad to post if anyone wants to see them for reference, or just for fun. The crux of my issue has to do with color-retention, but adherence to the surface upon which transfers are applied is also key.
If you know about this stuff, please get in touch!
...Also feel free to ask me any questions about it you think I could answer, as I'm glad to help with any of the knowledge I DO have. ;)
