Colour Contrast Suggestions Please!

Hello there,
I'm not particularly artistic which, when combined with my bold decision making can often end in disaster. Please witness the upcoming re-paining job I'm about to do, below.... Well, unless some of you can offer some advice.

I've painted my lounge purple and gold (metallic). It actually works. However the picture rail, window frames and door to the room are now garishly white and I need to make a change.
..and just in case anyone wants to point and laugh at my decor choices (wall art is yet to come and brighten the walls) and now I know the gold works, I'm going to paint the cornices gold too and then insert (and hide) LED dimmable strip lights in the picture rail. Reflecting off the gold will provide a lovely down light. Okay, laugh away and offer suggestions below.

Links to the paint I've used. Pics are below.

Can anyone suggest a contrasting colour? I don't mind it being bold or risky.
Should there be no good options I'd likely just paint it the same colour as the wall.

Thanks in advance for any discussion, sincerely,

A warm medium gray to what was previously white.
