The Internet doesn't sell artwork

After 20 yrs online, starting and running one of the founder Arts websites, ArtUk 1997 with 100's of artists in 29 countries and Social Media since the beginning, 1+million hits a year even from the start. Selling Art on the internet doesn't work. It just doesn't. That's what all the artist have told us. Perhaps the odd success or friends on FB but they would sell anyway in the real world, at a village hall, local gallery, cafe wall or ebay. I have never heard of any unknown artist that claims the net provides a real income. If someone can show me genuine examples show us.
