New PS

I've been using PS5 for years and have been very happy with it, but my latest MacOS OS update made it incompatible with my computers. (I'm still cussing) so I was forced to get the new photoshop subscription.

I absolutely LOATH it. One of the biggest issues I have, and I'm hoping there is a way to turn it off, is the automatic moving of whatever you have your curser on, rather than only moving the layer you have selected. This constantly results in me moving the background but not text or whatever else, or being able to select multiple layers to move together without removing the background or marking them for transformation. I'd like to just be able to move the layer selected and not have photoshop try to think for me and make decisions.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Hey! De-select the "Auto-Select" feature. Hope that helps.
