Enough black and white

I started playing with crayola twistables this morning. Couldn't figure out how to twist them. I had fun drawing an orange pool ball with them. Now I want to get some artist grade pencils and I'd like some suggestions. I will be leaning towards realism.

I use Prismacolor, just a personal favorite. Other brands are are Faber-Castell, Derwent and the list goes on . I think it's a matter of trying them out and figuring out works best for you. Regardless I personally would not go any lower than Prismacolor.

I still haven't bought any pro pencils but I did this apple to get started in color. Crayoola pencils I have because I have grandkids.

That's pretty good. The apple has character, it's not perfectly symmetrical which makes it look more real. I like that.

One thing that caught my eye is I think the shadow is on the wrong side considering where the bright spot is.

I feel the same way about the shadow. I was copying another drawing. Probably should have grabbed an apple from the fridge. Next time.

BTW, I bought some Prismacolor Premier pencils. Holy cow what a difference.
