Stolen!!!

Several of you have already seen this piece I did in color pencil. What I did not mention is I drew it on the front of my Granddaughter's home made birthday card. I had not said anything because she is a member here and I didn't want to spoil the surprise.

She never received it! We had enclosed a gift card to Hobby Lobby in it and it got stolen! in fact many things sent to my daughter have disappeared. She has been in touch with the Postal Inspection Agency because it most certainly is her letter carrier. Her apartment complex has locking boxes, the only common denominator is the carrier.

I know I shouldn't let it affect me, but I have been in a drawing slump since, haven't had the heart to draw anything. I am sure it will pass. I know it was just a drawing but of course a lot of love went into it. Kinda feel like a little piece of me disappeared. I feel silly writing this because I am sure I am over-reacting.

Any of you ever been through a similar experience?

I've gone through the same thing before. Since a lot of mental and emotional energy goes into a artwork, having it either stolen or damaged can be quite devastating. I go through drawing ruts too. Since a lot of emotional and mental energy goes into drawings, I've noticed that sometimes I go through periods where I have to give myself some time to rest and incubate ideas. I try to put time aside every day just to draw/sketch just as an exercise, simply to maintain my ability, but I save the creative energy for the next flow of inspiration that hits me.... Awesome artwork, by the way!

So, I'm not going crazy! good to know! I have not had anything happen to any of my artwork since I got back into drawing several months ago. I have nothing to compare to and my practical side says, "It's just a picture, do another!" but my emotional side isn't as reasonable.

Thank you also for the compliment! It was much better in person, this is not a good photo of it.

So sorry to hear that Susan, how very disappointing. I think everyone has ups and downs with creativity at the best of times so it only make sense that something like this could trigger that feeling. You'll be back in the saddle soon

@meli, that is a generous and sweet offer and you can try but I feel it was probably discarded by someone wanting the gift card, a.k.a money, and they didn't realize it was a one of a kind piece of art. But who knows.....thank you for your support. What is the name of the forum? I would like to check it out.

@zahira, I appreciate your kind words and have no doubt I will be back at it again! Just threw me a little.

@meli Can you please help to share this as well? These guys are selling temporary tattoos using plagiarised artwork, more info can be read from the link below.
