Arrow Help Uploading Artwork

What is the best way to take a picture of an art piece so that I can upload it without distorting color?

To the Sea, to the Sea! The white gulls are crying,
The wind is blowing, and the white foam is flying.
West, west away, the round sun is falling.
Grey ship, grey ship, do you hear them calling,
The voices of my people that have gone before me?
I will leave, I will leave the woods that bore me;
For our days are ending and our years failing.
I will pass the wide waters lonely sailing.

I use my cell phone and haven't had problem with the colors. One thing you might think about is it the camera or the computer/mobile device messing with the color?

Yes, the way I worded my question is a little faulty. What I really mean is how do I take a picture of my artwork so that it is as accurate as possible. I feel like when I take a picture of my paintings and drawings the camera often misses detail, but if there is no way other than what I am doing I guess I will just have to take the picture in better lighting.

"better lighting" Bingo! I know we have some pro photographers here and hopefully they'll weigh in. I asked a question here about purchasing a proper light setup for painting. The same lights should give great photos of the paintings with any camera or cell phone. I've experimented with homemade light boxes in the past for my wood turnings. It really makes a huge difference.

Yes I have two stand up lamps, three way bulbs going up to 150 watts, plus an overhead light and two table top lamps, but most importantly two large windows. One facing south-east and the other south-west, which also gives me good ventilation.

Thank you everyone you are all so helpful! I think I will try taking the picture in a well lit room and hopefully that helps!
