I don't have job right now due to covid 19 situation. I used to be an art lecturer. now thinking of selling my artwork. any sights on how to sell them?
I recommend checking out artworkarchive.com. It provides a very easy way to manage your inventory (as your paintings move between galleries or get sold), add new work, and create/update collections too. Another quicker and easier way is to create a business page on Facebook ...or build an instagram profile. Instagram is specially suited for visual artists and once you learn to use the right hashtags to get attention from your target audience, you can quickly build up your fanbase.
In my personal experience - I haven't found any online platform to be a great "selling" platform. I believe "sales" best happen through personal viewing, however that may vary from person to person and even for different type of art. e.g. bold, modern colors sell better online that earthy colors use in classical painting, simply because they show up better on computer screens...
Anyways, those are my initial thoughts. Hope it helps.
I recently joined a site called Art Pal. It's a free website for artists who want to sell their art online. Also, you will need to open a PayPal account if you don't have one already. Good Luck.
I have had good success with ArtFinder.com. It is a curated gallery set up, and they take a commission, but I have sold quite a few originals there. I have my own website and an Etsy shop, but mostly sell prints of my originals on those platforms.
Good Luck!
