I have an idea for a paper...sculpture? I'd like to do but if like some feedback first.

I recently did a painting I really like. I drew a rose and then painted a night sky in each individual petal. Going to redo it and some more like it (pictures in petals). When my grandpa saw a picture of it he said it looked like a sculpture, so I had an idea...

You know those primed sheets of paper you can paint on that come in a booklet kind of like a sketch pad for painting? I was thinking of cutting petals out of those and then do a painting on each one, then attach all the petals(would hot glue work?) so I had a giant rose made of paintings.

Would the paper im talking about work for that or should I use something else? I definitely want to make each petal individually.

Any suggestions for how I can best execute this idea?
