I want to start putting a watermark on my artwork. I tried to download Gimp (because somebody suggested that) and my computer wound up getting a lovely little virus due to it and I got it off their web-site. ![]() I don't like Photoshop. I suppose I could learn to like it but I am also sure there has to be good, reliable programs out there for something that simple that are free. Do you have suggestions for a good program for that?

You really don't need a watermark to copyright but it does announce to others that it is copyrighted.

Chanda95- Yes, it has come to this. Has been for years. If you're worried about copyright infringement for your art, you need an agent or a lawyer and they're usually one in the same. A proper web designer for your work could be helpful. The internet will grab anything you post here and it will go zippppppppeeeeeeee! It becomes out of your hands.

I sell software and I was paranoid about security but soon realised of the billions who are on the internet how many would resell your work. Same goes for photos and photos of paintings. Just make low resolution versions readily available with the high resolution ones for those who pay or satisfy ones criteria. I find web building is just another creative outlet as is painting and programming. With a painting it is the actual canvas that is the original. I will consider selling my art, so if 1000's download copies I will be ecstatic. Hoping one buys the real thing. Terry

Are you sure the virus was from Gimp? I've never had problems with them. If you have a deviant art account, they have a watermark option for your uploads.
