Thanks for your comments on the Jaguar, Sean! Blue, Yellow, and Red (in the nose) are actually a basic triad color scheme.
The Hopi reservation is small, in the middle of the Navajo reservation, located 50 mi or so SE of lake Powell. Their pottery has very similar figures.
I loved the video! And the link to Dances with wolves.. Costner is a distant relative of mine. I have painted buffalo.. several of them are posted in my Bears Bluebonnets and Buffalo thread in the Pastel Forum. I shoud do a lot more of them as I gain skills. A neighbor of mine runs a few which affords the opportunity to go over and photograph them.. They are a bit unnerving to be around.. his herd is wild, and unpredictable.
